...I've found most of my students learn the material better if you give them an application for it. Its not tested though so standard schooling tends to gloss over topics like this in favor of time but I feel like it is nearly as important as the material itself. ...A few fun facts about me: My graduate degree program was based in Spain, so I ended up learning a good bit of Spanish while I was abroad! I can also speak French, and I've tutored students in both! There's a prevalent, though incorrect assumption that all musicians have to begin as child prodigies, or need to start learning music before a certain age to succeed. (read more)
