Advertising on Purplemath

Do you have a product or service that is geared toward high-school and college pre-calculus algebra students, and designed to help them succeed in the long term? Then you may benefit from advertising your product or service on Purplemath!

Contracted Advertising: When you become a contracted advertiser, your contracted ad will get premium placement within Purplemath's content-rich lesson pages, and responsively so.

On "desktop" screens, your ad will be placed in the upper right-hand corner:

On mid-size screens (that is, for laptops and tablets), the placement is right where the students will be looking when they are clicking through to the next page in the lesson:

On mobile screens, your ad will fall within the text of the lesson, somewhere near the top of the page:

Regardless of the size and orientation of the particular screen on which the potential client is surfing the web, your ad will be displayed prominently And, within any given lesson page, there will only be one display of a contracted advertisement. Contracted ads are rotated and served randomly, so your ad will appear, now and again, throughout a user's traversal of the site.

All advertising on Purplemath is "targetted", meaning that Purplemath does not accept porn, gambling, offshore "investing", or other off-topic or potentially offensive campaigns. (If you see otherwise on any page of this site, please report it immediately via the site's Contact form!) Also, Purplemath does not accept pop-ups, pop-unders, scrolls, interstitials, auto-plays, or other annoyances. Your potential clients will not encounter anything objectionable or off-putting while on Purplemath. Linking from Purplemath is provided directly to your chosen target, with no "leaving this site" page or other hindrances between the visitor's ad-click and the opening of your page.

Formatting: The contracted ads are in the "skyscraper" format. Animations are acceptable; however, due to security concerns, Flash animations are no longer being accepted. Images should be no more than 160 pixels wide and no more than 250 pixels tall. If you would like to match Purplemath's colors, the HEX-coding for the background color of the Purplemath sidebar is #F8E7C8; the purple highlight (above the sidebar) is #7D287E. Filesizes should be kept small for quick loading. You will need to provide the URL for your preferred "landing" page, and you may specify tagline text (that is, some text to be placed below your graphic), if you like.

Audience: Purplemath's visitors consist generally of high-school and college students, plus homeschoolers (and their parents) and many non-traditional "returning" students. Long-term visitors tend to be self-starters; students who are willing to invest the effort necessary to master the material; students who want to understand the concepts, but who are struggling with poor textbooks, inarticulate instructors, online "education", or the long interval since having left high school.

The average visitor comes to Purplemath directly from a search engine and reads three topic-specific content pages. Many ("most"?) of the remainder come from K-12 schools, colleges, and universities.

About 80% of Purplemath visitors come from the United States; another 10% come from Canada, the Philippines, and the United Kingdom. While inhabitants of English-speaking countries naturally comprise the majority of the site's visitors, people from a surprising number of other countries worldwide visit the site each month also.

Ad rates are currently $0.55 CPM. New advertisers pre-pay $50 to establish accounts, with this amount being deducted from the first month's bill. Ad-views may be capped if desired. For instance, if you have a fixed advertising budget, you could specify "no more than 100,000 page views this month". You could also "test the waters" with a very small run of 10,000 pageviews for five dollars. Ads may be restricted in other ways, such as to certain regions or times of the day.

You will be provided with a secure area in which to review your campaign statistics. Campaigns are paid for through PayPal on a month-by-month basis, with payment due upon receipt of the PayPal notification. No extended commitment is required.
