I have found that often the instruction given in the classroom is simply the mechanics of how to do it since the bigger picture is obvious to the instructor. I graduated from University of Texas at Austin with a BS in Pure Mathematics, finished a masters at McGill, and I'm currently pursuing my Ph. D. at University of Connecticut.
