...I challenge my students by showing them a challenging problem each day to help push them to the next level. When teaching, my methods are to show and explain the step-by-step process of solving the problem after explaining important vocabulary and ideas. I then worked on some guided examples before having the students attempt examples on their own, where we then compared answers. (read more)
...I enjoy working with numbers because they always have a single correct answer, which you arrive at by following mathematic procedures. Currently my full-time job is working as a paraprofessional in a self-contained Autism room with 11 students, 3 kindergarten, 6 first graders, and 2 second graders. ...Although I never sought my teaching credential(s), I found during my tutoring job that I not only had a talent for it; but also enjoyed it thoroughly. I believe the part I like best is being able to put the lessons in terms the student can understand. It's one thing to explain something properly - another to explain it in a way which can be absorbed by the person being taught. (read more)
