During my previous 20 year IT career in systems administration and networking, I began programming as a hobby. Through the years of studying Java, Python, and C++ I progressed to the point where I was writing scripts and applications to aid my in my systems administration duties. ...I have been a mentor for the last 7 years, so I've worked with young students to help them meaningfully engage both with academics and peers. In my experience as a mentor and peer tutor, I've developed skills to connect and communicate well with writers of all ages. ...I work in the on-campus writing center as well as volunteer at the online tutoring center. I love teaching and believe that all people have writers inside them, they just have to learn how to access it. I believe in keeping the students the author of their work and will be a guiding force to make their writing stronger and will never try to interject my own thoughts into their piece. (read more)
