...I once had a student at community college who I’ll call Jim. Jim got so frustrated with algebra 1 that he threw his textbook out the window. Yet, I spent hours with Jim week after week in the college tutoring center, and he eventually passed algebra 1 and moved on to a University program. (read more)
...My hearing loss subsided, but my involvement with the deaf and hard-of-hearing community did not. My best friend in college is deaf, and many of my family friends growing up were deaf or hard-of-hearing. Being hard-of-hearing in elementary school was difficult, and I watched my best friend struggle with it some in college. (read more)
