...My mother's sister was left with developmental disabilities after 2 bouts with meningitis as a toddler. As a result, I grew up immersed in a family deeply involved with people with special needs. I volunteered with Special Olympics throughout my childhood and into my college years, and my mother continues to work as a job coach for differently abled adults. (read more)
