...I want to help students become readers and writers so that they can learn from others and communicate their ideas. When teaching reading, I use engaging texts to increase motivation and student-specific strategies to increase comprehension. When writing, I encourage students to think about "effective writing" -- writing that can transfer the ideas from their head into someone else's head. (read more)

The ability to reason through a scientific question to find the answer is always more helpful than simply knowing any individual answer.
