...Right now I'm getting my Ph.D. in English from UCLA, but I've loved English and reading since I was a little kid. My mom always tells the story of how I was writing before I could even write (or read) -- I'd take a pen and scribble in a notebook as though I was writing a story. ...I want my students to succeed and take the time to explain why a rule is in effect e.g. the Oxford or serial comma. When a person knows why something is used, they are more likely to remember the rule. It is important to me to inspire and give my students the knowledge to help them, help themselves. (read more)
