...My technique for tutoring is to try to help people understand why things work the way they do. Often, people struggle with subjects when they try to memorize rather than understand the underlying ideas behind a subject. This makes the class get harder as the year goes on since topics typically stack on one another. (read more)
...If there's one thing I hate, it's busywork! When I assign coursework, you can be assured there's always a valuable lesson to be gained. I will never give students work to do that isn't productive, and most times I will try to leave time at the end of the session to work through problems together so that students don't have to do too much outside of our sessions.
