My love for STEM subjects stems from my work and research as a computational biophysicist. I earned my B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the Long Beach State University. Throughout my time at The Beach, I had the opportunity to provide academic support to more than 250 students as a mentor, tutor, supplemental instructor, and academic coach in the STEM disciplines. ...One of the best ways to get better at solving problems is to have someone help with the process of breaking down the problem. In my experience, working one-on-one to solve a problem goes farther towards understanding than simply sitting in a classroom. I also am a firm believer in having to actually work through problems to truly understand a subject such as math or physics. (read more)
...I also familiarity with scripting and functional languages (particularly Mathematica and R but also some Python, Ruby, Lisp). I was a software in engineer for 14 years, primarily programming. This also included a primary focus in database application design and implementation. I also have at least 24 hours of university coursework in computer science. (read more)
...I've tutored undergraduate students one-on-one in math courses for over a year, specializing in calculus, linear algebra, and differential equations. I've also supervised a classroom of middle- and high-school students learning cryptogaphy. I'm happy to work with both children and adults!2+ years experience one-on-one tutoring for undergraduate linear algebra courses. (read more)
I have a Ph.D. in theoretical physics with specialisation in Group Theory, Particle Physics and Cosmology. My Ph.D. work involved heavy use of linear algebra, calculus and numerical techniques. I did my Masters in Physics with subjects including Classical Mechanics, Electrodynamics, Particle Physics, GTR, and Quantum Mechanics. (read more)
