...Since everyone who has taken Calc knows Algebra, this approach tends to give them a lot more confidence in their abilities. When I teach Calculus I focus on showing students the most efficient way of tackling seemingly impossible problems with just a little bit of strategic algebraic manipulation. This makes those very messy problems clean up very nicely afterward. (read more)
