...If you are starting to learn a programming language now, then I highly recommend that you learn Python instead of Matlab, simply because Python is becoming much more widely used. For some reason, my profile shows up when people search on Wyzant for Prolog. Trigonometry sounds scary to many students (and even their parents, still), but it doesn't have to be.
