...I tend to like the abstract... abstract art, abstract minds, abstract topics, etc. Perhaps abstract can be considered as "thinking out of the box." Algebra II is very much like that. It expounds upon the introduction of the abstract as presented in Algebra I; yet, in part II the mind must be able to retrain it's thinking to include what is extremely not normal... what is abstract! ...I have taught and tutored 3 years of Prealgebra. I have also taught an Intensive 8th grade math class on teaching Prealgebra students ways to improve their performance in their math class; such as going step by step on paper, rationalizing the steps in their minds; and pinpointing what the questions is asking.
