...I think one of the most important things to do is when there is an area students struggle in to get down to their level and figure out what their minds are caught up on. I also know laughing and having fun while learning never hurts. ...In preparing student for mastery of their spelling lists I have made individual spelling packets that have challenged the student. I have worked with students with letter cards that they manipulate to correctly spell their words. I have used spelling boxes where students have to match the correct letters with the correct box.
