It was terribly tedious at first, but I developed a skill for breaking down a new concept and coming at it from several different directions. ...I tailor my tutoring sessions to each student - if they need help with some concepts but not others, or test taking skills vs. visualization of problems, I tutor towards those goals. I have each student take an active role in their tutoring - they pick the topic and we work together through it. This builds their enthusiasm, confidence in the material and critical thinking skills.
