I first learned Spanish when I was nineteen years old and lived in Spain for two years. During that time I fell in love with the language and the culture. In college I majored in Spanish and minored in history at Brigham Young University, then did an MA in Spanish at BYU, and finished my formal education with a PhD in Iberian and Latin American Cultures from Stanford University.
