Following a career in higher education, I began substitute teaching, tutored in the No Child Left Behind initiative and tutored writing at a community college. My undergraduate degree was in English and in several professional positions my responsibilities included writing, proofreading and editing the work of others. During my last couple of years at VCU, I began working as a private tutor, and now have 4 years of tutoring experience doing virtual and in person private tutoring.
