...When it comes to teaching students phonics, I first make sure that students can differentiate between all of the long and short vowel sounds. Then I move on to practicing cvc words, which are words that start with a consonant, have a vowel in the middle, and end in a consonant. Being able to read a single-syllable word gives you building blocks to read multisyllabic words. (read more)
