...I find it important that a relationship is first built so that the lesson can be effective and the student can trust the tutor. After that, I present the lesson at hand, and gives a good overview of the science and idea behind it. ...I stopped teaching this course in Dec 2021 when I left USNA for a position at USCGA. I was employed by the Naval Academy as a tutor for Precalculus, Calculus I, and Calculus II. I continue to teach one section of Supplemental Instruction for Calculus I at the Naval Academy, a non-graded voluntary course for those who wish additional help for their graded Calculus I course.
