...I believe in teaching students to think through a problem, and do not simply instruct them on how to complete homework one step at a time without understanding what they are doing. I explain why we follow the process and how it relates to other math concepts. I have found that students respond positively to this approach and makes them more successful. (read more)

I have a BS and MS in Physics from Georgia Tech and a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Carnegie Mellon University. I worked for 30+ years as an applied mathematician for Westinghouse in Pittsburgh.
