...We focus on words that use a certain letter sound until they are familiar with that letter sound. We begin to read simple texts that have 3-letter short vowel words. Later, I teach about letter pairs and the sounds they make, decoding rules such as final "e" and short vowel sounds versus long vowel sounds, and silent letters. (read more)
