Grammar can be boring, but it can be learned and it will help the writer to express ideas with clarity and purpose. ...My undergraduate music major included a lot of ear training, as did my teaching during grad school and since. Most recently (Fall 2022) I taught the ear training course for incoming music PhD's at Harvard University. As an undergraduate, I took courses on Medieval, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Modern classical music. (read more)
...I work with each student to find a set of study skills that works best and most successfully. For example, I have an English student who has trouble concentrating when he reads, but when I read the material to him, he has perfect recall, thus making homework and tests much easier and much less stressful for him. Some students just need help making a homework plan each week/day. (read more)
